Whip up these protein-packed yogurt waffles for breakfast & freeze the rest for easy meal prep! A simple recipe that makes fluffy waffles you’ll love.

Easy Yogurt Waffles Recipe

These delicious blender waffles made with yogurt in the batter are so easy to make and come out perfect with wheat or gluten-free flour. Make a double-batch for meal prep freezer meals for homemade waffles in minutes. You can see more breakfast recipes here.

I’ve been testing lightened up waffle recipes for years cutting back on all the butter or oil typically needed for perfectly cooked fluffy waffles and have never been happy enough with the results to share a recipe here โ€“ until now! Turns out, yogurt in the batter really does the trick and bonus, it adds protein to the waffles!

I partnered with Stonyfield, my favorite yogurt brand to create these healthy waffles with their Stonyfield Plain 0% Fat Yogurt . I tested them with both wheat and gluten-free flour and they both came out great! Combining but almond milk with yogurt keeps the calories down, and I skip the sugar altogether, leaving that for the topping.

I use a classic round waffle maker , not a Belgian which you can see here , it’s about $25 and I have had it for years. If your is square, it should still be fine, you will have to adjust the amount of batter you use depending on the size.

Waffle Topping Ideas

You can top your waffles with many different toppings, here’s a few ideas:

  • Pure maple syrup with mixed berries
  • Honey, I like using Manuka honey for it’s healing benefits
  • Drizzled Peanut Butter and Sliced Bananas
  • Yogurt Whipped Cream and Fresh Berries (see below)

To Make Yogurt Whipped Cream:

  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/3 cup chilled whipping cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup fat free plain Greek yogurt

Place the sugar into the mixing bowl and add the chilled whipping cream. Using a hand mixer, whisk at medium speed until the cream and vanilla reaches stiff peaks, about 2 to 3 minutes; whisk in the yogurt for 15 seconds or until incorporated. Makes 6 servings about 2 1/2 tablespoons each.

How To Store Leftover Waffles

Leftover batter can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for about a week. Cooked waffles can be frozen and reheated in the toaster. To freeze wrap in plastic wrap and label the date with a sharpie.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cup almond milk , or any milk you wish
  • 2/3 cup Stonyfield Plain 0% Fat Yogurt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose unbleached , white whole wheat flour or gluten-free flour mix*
  • 1 tablespoon + 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • cooking spray

Instructions

  • In a blender combine, starting with the liquid first add the milk, yogurt, eggs, vanilla, flour, baking powder and salt and mix until well combined and smooth, about 30 to 60 seconds.
  • Heat a waffle iron over medium heat (I used number 3 on mine) and let it heat up.
  • When hot spray with cooking spray and pour 1/2 cup of batter in the center, close and cook until golden brown and slightly crisp on the edges, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Repeat with the remaining batter or refrigerate the remaining.

Notes

*To make gluten-free I tested this with Cup4Cup Gluten free flour and added 2 more tablespoons of almond milk. This will NOT work with almond flour.

  1. I was looking for a waffle recipe to inaugurate my brand new waffle iron but that didn’t include a cup of oil or butter. I landed on this one and can say that they came out fantastic! The inside is light and fluffy (they came out even lighter than I expected) and the outside stayed crisp even when the waffles cooled down. For those wanting to make this recipe, I’d avoid Greek yogurt as I think that would create too thick and dense a batter. If you’re concerned about the amount of baking powder, I reduced the amount to one level tablespoon and still had waffles as light as a cloud.ย

  2. Notes say the recipe will NOT work with almond flour but I tried it and it worked. I used 1.5 cups almond flour and .5 cups protein powder. They needed to be cooked well done because if not they fall apart slightly but falling apart on the plate isn’t a big deal in my personal opinion if it means getting to use almond flour.

  3. I recently bought a Belgium waffle maker and my hubby and I have tried several recipes with vegetable oil, sugar, etc. ย  All were good, but these are my favorite. ย  Followed the recipe to T but used Faye 0% greek yogurt. ย  ย They turned out great! ย Will use this recipe again and again. ย  Give it a try

  4. I used half whole wheat flour and half unbleached flour and the waffles were very good! will definitely use this recipe again,

  5. Can I use this recipe to make pancakes?

  6. I was looking for a recipe to use up my almond milk and Gk yogurt and came upon this site. (I purchased almond milk just to try it and prefer skim milk. I’m not a WW but probably shoild be. LOL)
Made the waffles and they were delicious and filling. I have the same waffle iron Gina showed in her photos and had 8 amazing crisp waffles. I used Gk yogurt and didn’t add extra liquid and they still came out great. Definitely will use this recipe again, but with my skim milk.

  7. Fantastic – just like every other recipe of yours that I’ve made. Thank you! You’re my go-to site for all my recipes.

  8. Surprised how good these turned out despite my changes. I was out of milk so I used water, then added 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Added some blueberries after I put them on the waffle iron. Really tasty, light and very crispy! Best served with bacon, of course. ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Thank you for always providing such yummy nutritious recipes!! This waffles recipe was a hit. With our allergies I used this as a base. I used your notes and switched the flour for GF flour and I used so delicious plain coconut yogurt. Everything else I followed from your recipe. I only commented with my changes for those that have allergies like my family.

  10. We love these waffles in my house! We make them about once a month. We use greek yogurt in place of regular because that’s always what we have on hand. We like to double the batch and add mini chocolate chips or fresh blueberries to the batter then we have a variety to pick from in the freezer. I use a mini waffle iron and my kids just love them!

  11. I’m not much of a waffle person and don’t have a waffle maker. Any ideas on converting this into a pancake recipe?

  12. Can you use regular yogurt or does it have to be Greek?

Thanks! Eager to try these ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. Kids loved it!

  14. Are you using conventional yogurt or greek yogurt?

  15. 1 and 1/4 ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. This is my GO TO!!! My husband is tired of hearing me say that there’s “no added sugar”!! It makes clean up a breeze because it’s all in the blender. My girls have never complained about these since I stopped buying Eggos and instead we eat these.

  17. Really good! I used my immersion blender and it worked perfectly for this recipe.

  18. I am on WW itโ€™s actually 6 points I put everything in the calculator.ย

    • The only accurate way to determine any recipe’s SmartPointsยฎ value is to plug the ingredients into the recipe builder on the Weight Watchers website (Click on “My Foods,” select “Recipe,” and click “Create a recipe.”) which does not count fruits and vegetables in recipes in the calculations as they are now 0 points.

The SmartPointsยฎ calculator isn’t meant for recipes and will often give you the wrong points (usually higher) because it’s counting the fruits and vegetables. So if you see a recipe with a SmartPointsยฎ value that’s different from what the calculator tells you, now you know why.

  19. Do you mean 1 and 1/4 Cups of Milk Or only a 1/4 Cup? ๐Ÿ™‚

  20. I really wanted to love this recipe like I love all your other recipes, but it was a big flop. I followed the recipe and mine came out sooooo dense and chewy. Any ideas on what would cause that given that so many people have had success with this recipe?

  21. Did I do something wrong? These literally tasted like just bread. I realized after I made them that there was zero sweetner in them. My kids like plain waffles, so adding sweetner in the topping doesn’t work for us.

  22. These were great. I made them with the Breakfast sausage from the Air Fryer book. ๐Ÿ˜‹ I used skim milk. I also doubled it and had to use my kitchen aid mixer with a whisk because it was too much for a regular blender. We have lots of leftovers, which is great.

  23. Can this be used with greek yogurt for added protein?

  24. Love these waffles (so do my kids)! ย I ย make them with my mini dash waffle maker for my 3 & 5 year old boys. One batch lasts us for two days and the batter stays perfect in the fridge. Thanks for another amazing recipe!ย

  25. These are so easy! No added sugar and they are great!ย

  26. Got a belgian waffle maker for Christmas and tried this recipe. It was great! I used 0% greek yogurt, half whole-wheat flour, 2 tsp ground flax. Also added 2 tsp sugar and a Tbsp melted butter. It was too thick for my blender, so I finished it off with a whisk. I made them the night before and my kids reheated in the toaster for breakfast. We will be making these again!

  27. These are excellent, thank you! ย I bought a new ceramic waffle iron (to get away from the toxins in Teflon) and this recipe was perfect! ย Crispy, delicious waffles, love them. ย

  28. Love this recipe. Easy to make and the waffles taste great. Taste like funnel cake without the sugar. Topped with fruit and it was perfect.

  29. Hey Gina, ย made it twice, in love!

  30. Hey Gina, love this recipe! Made it twice, in love!

  31. Please tell me if I can use buttermilk. ย Thank you.

    • Just try it and see. Iโ€™d pour less than what the recipe calls for and add a little at a time if the batter is too thick. Buttermilk will add points.ย

  32. yummy! First try and it was so easy that even I didnt fail lol. it was pretty good and im happy i was able to use my yogurt ๐Ÿ™‚ don’t hesitate, TRY THIS RECIPE!!!

  33. I’ve tried so hard to find a healthy alternative to the egg/banana healthy pancake batter and made this today, for waffles but no waffle maker so made pancakes instead. I used oat milk and vanilla natural yoghurt and they were amazing, sweet and fluffy and filling. Thanks for this!!

  34. I’ve made this recipe twice now. The first time I made it with half white flour half cassava. It was a hit! Definitely on my list going forward

  35. I can’t believe I had not seen this recipe before! So easy and delicious.

  36. I made these for my 12 month old using Stonyfield Baby blueberry yogurt. One container isnโ€™t quite 2/3 cup so I used mashed ripe banana to make up the difference. ย Baby, 3yr old, husband and myself ate them up instantly. If by chance there are leftovers to freeze, how do I best reheat?

  37. A mixer works better to combine ingredients, blenders ย are for frozen drinks!

  38. A mixer works much better to combine ingredients, blenders are for frozen drinks!

  39. This has long been a family favorite in our home. Awesome for a weekend brunch! We now have found a fun variation where I add 1 tsp lemon zest and blueberries to the mix. Sooooo good!ย
I have used fresh blueberries and thawed frozen berries, both are great. I just pour the batter into the pan and sprinkle a couple spoonfuls of blueberries on top before closing the pan.ย

  40. Iโ€™ve made this so many times and was so happy to test it on my new blender (old one worked HARD on these and required stopping and stirring) but it always tastes good and takes well to different toppings. ย My kids love them and I like that they have nice healthy ingredients.ย

  41. This recipe is absolutely the most Yummers health waffle I have ever eaten!!!
So yummy I donโ€™t even need butter r syrup
    Love loveย
One thing I found was the batter gets really thick
    And stopped my blenderย
    I made twiceย
Do u think I should use my kitchen aid??
Any one else have this challenge??
I froze them and they were so yummy toasted in my toaster oven!!!
    Iโ€™m a happy camper!!

  42. These are amazing! I doubled the recipe so I would have leftovers. Went to get my daughter from cheer and when I came home, my boys had eaten all of what was left. They love my cooking, so that made me incredibly happy.ย

  43. I donโ€™t have a waffle maker but d have one of those pans that ย could make baked waffles. ย Do you think that would work? ย Thanks so much.

  44. Pretty solid waffle! I added a tbsp of sugar and used Whole fat yogurt and 2% milk. Very easyย

    • Love your recipes. This one was easy which is great. My husband and I unfortunately didn’t love this recipe. Didn’t hate it, but not going to be a go to recipe for us. Ours ended up being too dense. Maybe user error?

  45. Best healthy waffle recipe. Would totally recommend it.ย

  46. Tasty, simple recipe! I used 1 cup oat flour and 1 cup barley flour. They were crispy! My family really enjoyed them. This will be my go to waffle recipe.

  47. Excellent recipe! It does not take sugar, and the yogurt adds enough sweetness to it. It is very crisp as it comes out from the waffle iron.

  48. I’ve made these many times! They always come put perfect and freeze well for a quick breakfast. I like to add raspberries or blueberries into the batter.

  49. Absolutely delicious! Thank you! These are light, chewy, and yummy. I just mixed them by hand, and they turned out perfectly.

  50. I love how simple these are to make!

I was looking for a Greek yogurt pancake/waffle recipe since I can never use the full container of yogurt before it goes bad. I found a pancake recipe from Food Network, but they were almost burnt before they finished cooking.

These are so light and fluffy and they cooked perfectly! My only complaint is that they didnโ€™t have a ton of flavor. Iโ€™m weird and donโ€™t eat my pancakes/waffles with anything since theyโ€™re usually sweet enough. I love that these are low in sugar, but Iโ€™ll def have to start using toppings.ย

Also, I should have read the recipe about using 1/2cup of batter! I only got five waffles, but at least Iโ€™ll know for next time.ย

This recipe will definitely be a repeat! ๐Ÿ™‚

  51. I was a bit skeptical about this recipe. ย But today, a Stay at Home Saturday morning, I craved something yummy to go with my hot cup of Puerto Rican cafรฉ con leche. ย And it had to be gluten-free. ย And no unnecessary extra calories. ย So I remembered that I had printed out this recipe. ย I buy only Fage 0% Greek Yogurt but I set out my ingredients, including a homemade gluten free flour blend (no xanthan gum) and put the everything into a small blender. ย Since the Fage is thick, I used a bit less and increased the liquid.T he ingredients did not all blend within the time specified so I dumped everything into a bowl and mixed gently with a silicone mixing spoon. ย Batter was still too thick. ย Added more almond milk and stirred until I was satisfied with the batter. ย A hot Belgian waffle maker baked my waffles to a beautifully crisp, golden treat. ย ยกIncreรญble! ย Drizzled maple syrup over them and absolutely loved my breakfast. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ ย I’ve made gluten free waffles before, but hated that the recipe called for 1/2 cup oil. ย LOVE that this recipe does not include oil, and that the yogurt provides protein. ย I had prepared only half the recipe (which is what I do when trying out one that seems “iffy”) so I had just enough baked waffle for another day. ย Wrapped well and put in freezer.
Later this week, will pop it into my toaster oven and enjoy another “comfort” breakfast. ย Definitely will make the full recipe and freeze. ย Am I still skeptical? ย Heck NO! ย Thank you so much for this creative and healthy recipe! ย what would I do differently next time? ย Use liquid eggs (am fighting high cholesterol) and add 1/2 to 1 tsp cinnamon. ย But otherwise, this recipe is a keeper and a game changer. ย Will be sharing with our daughter, whose kitchen is GF, and who is always looking for ways to make meals more nutritious for her 4 and 5 yr old children. ย

  52. I normally donโ€™t leave reviews, but I had to tell you how much I love this recipe. I eat this everyday for breakfast with variations in toppings. Soooo delicious. They come out perfect every time. I freeze them for the week and reheat in toaster. They are the best! Thank you!!!

  53. I made this recipe with no fat plain yogurt and whole wheat flour. I got 6 almost full belgian waffles (used about 1 cup of batter for each one). Very good and fluffy.

  54. I did half almond flour and half white flour, plus added 1/2 rolled oats and a mashed banana. ย These were excellent and so filling. ย Will be making again!

  55. Can I use a flax or chia egg instead of regular eggs?

  56. We love these waffles as is, but today I did a little twist to turn them into churro waffles inspired by an unhealthy recipe I used to love. After I made the waffles, I coated each serving as best I could in 1/4 Tbsp melted Brummel and Brown buttery yogurt spread which I had in a pie plate. Then I sprayed both sides with I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter Spray. Next I generously coated each side with a cinnamon/granular Swerve mixture. Finally I topped each serving with warm sugar free syrup. So yummy and perfect for a special Cinco de Mayo breakfast.

  57. Absolutely amazing! Packed with protein but still fluffy and delicious! Love these pancakes and have made them again and again.

  58. This has been THE BEST Remote Learning โ€œsnackโ€œ for my four kids that have bottomless pits for stomachs…it keeps them full until the next meal and I donโ€™t feel guilty about it…just wish I had a bigger blender;) Thank you so much for such a fantastic way to sneak in protein and make it feel like a treat!!

  59. Just had โ€˜breakfast for dinnerโ€™ . Waffles were a hit! They come out fluffy and delicious! Perfect! only had Greek yogurt and worked out great (batter a little thick but added a bit more milk, just a bit).ย Thank you so much Gina! I

  60. Can I use with a Belgium waffle maker?ย

  61. These are AH-MAZ-ING, as I would expect from this site. I used 1.5 cups white flour and 1/2 cup flax meal and it turned out great.

  62. These were absolutely amazing! Thank you for another winning recipe! Managed to no eat 2 and will make chicken and waffles with them tomorrow. Can I store them on the counter, or should they be refrigerated?

  63. Thank you for this fantastic recipe. Made it this morning and it was even better than my Mother in laws recipe for waffles. Shhhh, what she doesnโ€™t know wonโ€™t hurt her! ๐Ÿ˜‰ย

  64. OMG, I have to tell you other waffle batters have nothing on this!! I used Bob Red Mill’s GF blend Eveflour as I am gluten sensitive. This waffle actually tasted even better than the one I normally use. Must say that this will be my go to recipe instead. Thank you so much Gina for yet another awesome recipe!!

  65. These look awesome. I followed the link for the Yogurt Whipped Cream for these waffles and it sent me back to this spot. Did I miss something? ๐Ÿ˜‰

  66. Thank you for this recipe. The waffles were fluffy and delcious. I made the with whole goat’s milk and full fat goat’s yogurt and they turned out delicious with a great texture. They were a hit with the grown ups and kids.

  67. I made this recipe as indicated & made one batch of waffles, then my waffle maker broke! I improvised by pulling out a frying pan & making large pancakes instead. ย Wow, they were amazing! ย From an almost disaster comes an incredible pancake recipe! ย This recipe for waffles, & pancakes is delicious & a keeper.

  68. These were excellent fluffy, delicious waffle! I didn’t have plain yogurt so I used the honey and banana flavor greek yogurt in my fridge. I’m sure it added a little more grams of sugar., but also a kick of flavor. Kids loved these versus other whole wheat waffles/pancakes I’ve done in the past. This is our new go-to. Thanks!

  69. Light, fluffy, and crispy! 100 calories less than my regular waffles. I’ll definitely be making these again!

  70. I love these waffles, and eat them every week with just fruit on top. But when I put them into the recipe builder on WW, the green plan, has them at 6 points, not 4. Any idea why?

    • I also just put them in the WW recipe builder and they are 6 points on green. It’s the flour that adds the points so maybe playing around with different flours would bring it down?

  71. Hi. I love these waffles, but trying to determine what is one serving. Iโ€™m on Blue WW, and use the cuisinart griddle waffle plates. Is one serving equal to one full waffle created by the mold, or us it one section from that mold? Hope that makes sense!

  72. Can you use fat free whipping cream or fat free ย half and half and substitute the sugar for stevia?

  73. I wasnโ€™t too sure about these from the title but thought Iโ€™d give it a whirl bc Ginaโ€™s recipes rock. ย To my surprise, they were fluffy, beautiful and tasted wonderful. Thanks again!

  74. Umm…. WOW!!!
These are the most delicious waffles that I have ever had! My kids agree, they were blown away. They looked VERY skeptical when they saw me putting yogurt into it, but they were quickly convinced!ย
I made this exactly as directed. I saw in some reviews that people experienced a bitter aftertaste, and they recommended reducing the baking powder. I considered that, but in the end I decided to trust the original recipe. Iโ€™m glad that I did, because I didnโ€™t detect even a hint of bitterness. I used Rumfords baking powderย

    • Oh I did have to make one adjustment. They didnโ€™t have non fat plain regular yogurt at the store so I used Greek. I added an extra splash of milk as suggested by previous commenters and it was just the right consistency

  75. I love these! I can’t even taste the difference, yet they’re much better for me. Win-win!ย

  76. Amazing! Made the yogurt Whipped cream and a warm blueberry sauce (WW recipe) to put on top. Family approved! I did sub vanilla premier protein for milk, used Greek yogurt with 2TBS milk to thin.ย

  77. I donโ€™t have a waffle maker so I made pancakes and used whole wheat flour. ย I will be picking up a waffle maker as itโ€™s less mess and saves time. ย Pancakes were delicious, I added a cup of blueberries to the batter

  78. I was so happy when I came across this recipe. I can’t remember the last time I had “dessert for breakfast,” but this just hit the spot. The waffle was good enough to eat by itself, but I added 1/2 tbsp pure maple syrup, 3 sliced strawberries, and a handful of blueberries to build the ultimate waffle breakfast.

  79. Can anyone tell me how many waffles there are per serving If I’m using a standard size waffle maker?

    • If you want to fill the waffle maker, the yield will be fewer than the suggested servings, but if you pour 1/2 cup into the waffle maker (it won’t quite get to the edges), you should be left with 6 waffles. You’d probably get about 4 if you made full-sized waffles.

  80. Made these today and my husband didnโ€™t believe me that they were a Skinnytaste recipe! So good!

  81. This is now my go-to recipe for waffles. I have made this a dozen times. I don’t use the blender – just mix it in a bowl and you are good to go! I double the recipe because my kids can easily eat two each of these, which doesn’t leave much leftovers. I then freeze the rest and use these for meals on busy weeknights. Amazing recipe – Gina!

  82. My favourite recipe I have found since starting WW. ย They always turn out great and I use a waffle cut in half as sandwich bread, only 2 points. ย I use Kodiak mix instead of flour and Premier Protein instead of milk. This ups the protein and lowers the points. ย  I had made these a dozen times or more and always get 9 waffles in my iron. ย Thank you for a great recipe!

  83. These are hands-down my favorite waffle recipe. I make a double batch and freeze them, so I can reheat in the toaster and have a warm breakfast on my way out the door. Today, I got to feeling a little autumnal, so I decided to make them pumpkin flavored.

Y’all. Just trust me on this. Try these if you like pumpkin flavored stuff.

Instead of 2/3 cup yogurt, I substituted pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie!!) for half. So 1/3 cup yogurt, 1/3 cup pumpkin puree. Added a 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 1/4 tsp nutmeg and 1/4 cardamom. Added a splash more milk because it was too thick, and that’s it. Made it the same way and OH MY GOODNESS they are so good!

Even if you don’t like pumpkin, this orginal recipe is amazing!

  84. I have Cuisinart grill/griddle with waffle inserts. Set on med-high (on the line between the 2 settings), 1/2 C on each side, 4 min. Makes 8 servings, comes out GREAT.

  85. I love your website and recipes but this was a miss

  86. Wow! These are great! I made them into pancakes since I don’t have a waffle maker. Definitely going to be a freezer staple for my daughter and I. Thank you for a great healthy breakfast recipe!

  87. I made these exactly as the recipe is written (using vanilla unsweetened almond milk) and they were fantastic! Hubby and kiddo approved. Thanks Gina! โค๏ธ

  88. These came out fantastic!!! I just used what I had which was nonfat Greek yogurt, regular all purpose flour and 2% milk. I used WW recipe builder and they still came out 4 freestyle points. I did get 7 pancakes (vs 6 recipe says) I have ย a round Cuisinart waffle maker which made 7 waffles a little smaller than the size of a standard plate. Yummy!!!!

  89. Made these tonight per my daughters request as dessert, they are amazing! Big hit!! Will they keep in the fridge for a day or two? Or must you freeze? Thank you again for another awesome recipe!

  90. These waffles were such a delight! I rarely make waffles, but decided to try these since they were a part of this week’s meal plan. They are so fluffy, I can’t wait to make them again!

  91. These were super good! I added vanilla and white chocolate chips to one batch. Then Bacon Bacon and cheddar to another batch. We love to mix up the sweet and savory.

  92. I made these with Siggiโ€™s nonfat vanilla yogurt, added a teaspoon of cinnamon, and they came out great! My kids love them and even my MIL loved them.ย

  93. I do not eat breakfast. Never have. I am doing WW and needed to spread my points out through the day. I found this recipe and decided to try it. I thought i would hate it. I threw blueberries in the mix. I am in LOVE! I eat these every single morning, as soon as i get to work. I made a batch, froze them individually, and brought 5 to work. As my coffee is making, my waffle is heating up in the toaster. I have had people come in the office and ask what smells so good. I have shared your recipe numerous times. Even those that are not concerned about eating healthy love these! Thank you!

  94. These are (were!) Amazing. I made a full batch and my husband ate 8, and my 9 year old had 4! So much for leftovers for the rest of the week. Thanks for a great recipe!

  95. This recipe is amazingly simple the waffles were FANTASTIC! A must in your repertoire!

  96. So delicious! And with no added sugar or butter/oil. My whole family loves these. Thanks Gina!

  97. Hi, I donโ€™t have a waffle maker but do have one of those pans you can make waffles in the oven. ย Would this r cope work using that pan? ย It bakes six waffles at a time. ย Thanks so much.

  98. Perfect July 4th breakfast…served with blueberries and strawberries. Enough leftover to freeze for future deliciousness! As always, Gina nailed it!

  99. can you usec this as pancakes? I want to pre mix batter to take camping this weekend.

  100. Waffles were great – made with Greek yougurt because thatโ€™s what I had on hand – but when I entered the stats into the WW app they calculated at 6 SP not 4 … I must be doing something wrong.ย

  101. I had my eye on this recipe for awhile now and even bought a waffle maker for it. ย Made these for Fatherโ€™s Day. The kids were hesitant to eat waffles that were made with yogurt but they gave it a whirl. ย So Glad I made 2 batches since our two kids alone ate two each. These were a huge hit. My family had it with strawberries, blueberries, whipped cream and syrup. I ended up with a fried egg and bacon on top of my 1/2. I was planning on doing the other half with fruit, but was too full to try it. Surprisingly 1 is more then enough to fill you up. Liked how these meal got the kids involved; they all got to help. We will be making this one regularly. I do not regret buying a waffle maker!
Is using a blender absolutely necessary? Canโ€™t all the ingredients just be mixed in a bowl? I only ask because I hate climbing to my top cabinet on the ladder to get this hardly used contraption.

  102. Could you use coconut flour in place of the regular flour?

  103. Allergic to eggs, so is there any alternative?

  104. I needed to use up some leftover Chobani Blended Strawberry yogurt and found your recipe. I made these waffles with a mini waffle iron – 1/4 cup size so they made up about 12 toaster waffles. Made a bunch for the freezer. This is the only waffle recipe that I will ever use. We love it! Thank you!

  105. Any suggestions how you would make these in the Vremi Air Fryer using a silicone waffle insert? If not, I may experiment and comment with my results.

  106. Made these for breakfast today. We are waffle connoisseurs and thought these were terrific! Crispy on the outside and fluffy inside, just delicious! Have enough for a few more breakfasts.ย

  107. Made these today and they are excellent! ย I subbed half of the flour for ground oats (homemade oat flour), and really liked the texture (plus bonus fiber). ย Also – that waffle maker is a gem. ย

  108. So Good!!!! I made them gluten free with gluten free air fried chicken. My daughter was thrilled to have GF chicken and Waffles.

  109. Instead of using a combination of AP flour+baking powder, I just used 2 cups of Kodiak Cakes protein pancake mix (buttermilk). Worked great, plus extra protein! I make a double batch of these pretty often and have some fresh out of the pan, but always freeze a bunch for easy post-workout meal on a Saturday. I always make pancakes because my waffle maker is a pain to clean. I love throwing in a combo of blueberries and chocolate chips if I’m feeling decadent.

I have never made the whipped cream/yogurt topping, they are great with berries macerated in maple syrup and if I have some lemons on hand I throw in a little zest.

  110. I used Chobani non fat greek yogurt (since that is what I had on hand) and used 1 1/3 cup almond milk to start. I expected the mix to be on the thicker side from other’s comments and decided I would play with adding more milk until I reached the desired consistency. I probably used 1 2/3 cup total of almond milk which made 7 pancakes (I didn’t have a waffle iron) and that kept the freestyle points the same at 4. My 10 year old liked them so I think this is a win!

  111. Do you think this r vile would work for pancakes?

  112. Can you use spelt flour for this?

  113. Just realized I grabbed the wrong yogurt. Can I make with Greek yogurt?

  114. Help – I want to make this tonight but only have regular all purpose flour. Can i use it and then omit the baking powder? Thanks!

  115. Quick, easy and delicious! Best waffles Iโ€™ve ever made. I make them in a Belgium waffle maker and I get 8 waffles from the recipe. Served with wild blueberries and a little bit of pure maple syrup.ย

  116. I just make these and they turned out great. I didn’t taste the baking powder at all and they were light and fluffy. I used Dannon Oikos 0% fat Blueberry yogurt and added frozen blueberries (from TJs wild blueberries-very tiny) about 2/3 C. They do need a topping but I was too lazy to make the whipped topping included with the recipe so I just used 1T pure maple syrup. I made them in a mini waffle maker that I got on Amazon just for these. They are only about 4″ in diameter and take a scant 1/4 C of batter so I got to eat 2. I froze the rest. 12 minis frozen. If you are looking for a mini maker I do recommend this on Dash Mini Maker.

  117. These are delicious!! I love waffles, so Iโ€™m so thankful for a healthier version. So good!!

  118. Oh my gosh so yummy! I decreased the baking powder to 1 Tbsp per another recommendation and family loved them!

  119. These were yummy! Very well received by my kids, will surely make again. I didn’t taste any baking powder like other reviewers, not even in the raw dough.

  120. OMG. These are beyond decription. With the whipped cream and berries it’s like having dessert for breakfast! I made in the George Foreman and 1/2 cup batter worked for each side so I could take 2 at a time. No bitterness.

  121. Can you use coconut or Almond flour for this recipe?

  122. So many times a llightened-up recipe is a real disappointment-NOT this one! It is actually better than the waffles I normally make. Light, fluffy with crisp edges. This oneโ€™s a keeper.ย

  123. They. Are. Delicious!! Thank as always, Gina. Youโ€™ve been my go to for years now!ย

  124. Made these this morning for breakfast & we loved them. I served them with strawberries & blueberries on top like your picture shows & we topped it all with a bit of pure maple syrup fresh from the sugar bush! I used 0% greek yogurt as I thought that was what I was supposed to use! Not sure if it was because of that or just because my blender is old, but it wouldn’t mix up properly so I had to transfer to a bowl to mix it… will do it this way next time too. I also used only one egg & 1/4 cup egg whites because I have been told to cut back on whole eggs… I will try all egg whites next time. They cooked up nice & fluffy & tender with a bit of crispiness on the edges. I got 5 full sized waffles & 1 just a bit smaller, but I likely lost a bit of batter when I changed from blender to bowl. We will definitely be having these again!

  125. These are amazing! ย My teen son wanted to cook dinner and I gave him the waffles to make. ย My husband and teen daughter kept saying how wonderful they were while my son and I finished up. ย When my son finally tasted the waffles his facial expression was priceless. ย He couldnโ€™t believe how delicious they were. ย Thanks Gina for sharing healthy recipes that my family can enjoy!ย

  126. These are amazing! ย My teenage son wanted to help my make dinner so I had him make these. ย My husband and teenage daughter ate first and kept commenting on how wonderful they were. ย Then my son took a bite and his face was priceless. ย He loved them! ย A new family favorite! ย Thanks for providing so many healthy recipes for my family to enjoy, Gina. ย

  127. Tried it with almond flour and that was a big no-go. Stuck to the waffle iron even though it was sprayed generously with coconut oil. ย Had no flavor at all, tasted like flour, and I even added a small amount of almond flavoring. Epic fail for me.ย

  128. Just made these and theyโ€™re great but we donโ€™t love the bitterness in the aftertaste that I think is from the baking powder. Can you omit that, the salt, and use self rising flour instead like the two ingredient dough? If so, whatโ€™s the amount of self rising youโ€™d use? Thanks!ย

  129. Simply delicious and satisfying. I made these this morning with Fage 0% plain Greek yogurt (I added 2 tbsp of water to reach the right consistency) and used my 7″ Belgian waffle baker. It take about 3/4 . It yielded 5 finished waffles and a little extra. The whole family loved them.! I topped mine with a little but of real maple syrup and served with fresh strawberries. Thanks for sharing this recipe!

  130. this looks great! i had never thought of using yogurt before :p

    xoxo <3

  131. Waffles are back on the menu at our house. My husband is delighted. Made 5 Belgium waffles.

  132. I made the waffles yesterday for brunch, I used plain Greek yogurt and almond milk because that is what I had and they were delicious, I kept one out for this week and froze the rest. ย Did add a little more milk, I cooked in my little round Belgium waffle maker I bought at church sale for $2 and it works great. Thank you Gina

  133. I just tried these this morning. They are even good if you forget the Baking Powder. I made 2 before I realized the omission. So I put a bit in the rest of the batter and proceeded to make the other 4 waffles. When my husband got up he was excited for waffles. He ate them and I don’t think he realized they are different from my normal waffle recipe, which calls for 1/2 cup of melted butter in the batter! I’m not going to tell him the difference.

  134. Has anyone tried adding protein powder to these to boost protein up even more?!

  135. If one wanted to up the protein content with a protein powder, would a whey powder work, how much, and would you lower the flour amount or just add a little more milk ?ย

  136. Can you use a flavored yogurt? Iโ€™m thinking coconutย

  137. I might have missed it but why the use the blender and not the mixer?ย

  138. These waffles were delicious and crispy! My kids loved them. I used Greek yogurt and found that I needed a bit more milk for it to work in my blender. The texture of these are a bit more dense than Belgium waffles, but we didn’t mind. Found them quite filling compared to all the other types we have tried.

  139. My daughter is dairy free– could an almond milk yogurt be used instead? Or coconut milk yogurt? Thanks, I love your site!

  140. I didn’t see this asked yet so…here goes…I realize I can probably.use white flour…will it change the points? As usual, THANK YOU Gina!

  141. I made these with Greek yogurt and only needed to add a splash more of milk. They are soooo delicious and super easy to make!! I added blueberries to mine and loved them!ย

  142. Do you think you could use full-fat yogurt in these? Asking as they would be for my toddler who needs healthy fats.

  143. Can you use greek ogurt?

    • I made these with Greek yogurt and it turned out great! I just needed to add a splash more of milk to thin the batter outย

  144. I made these tonight for dinner and topped it with your fried chicken recipe and sugar free maple syrup. It was divine! They tasted just like regular waffles!

  145. Hi Gina – This website is a GODSEND ย Thank you for doing it!

Quick question, I am noticing that the Yummly button isn’t available anymore and I am having trouble figuring out how to save them in a way so I don’t have to do a search each time for my favs. ย Any insights on how I can do that? ย Thanks. Roger

  146. It’s almost like you knew. My son was just told by his doctor that he needed to go gluten free and eat a high amount of protein. he does not like eggs and waffles are his favorite breakfast. Made these this morning and he loved them!!! Added additional milk due to the gluten free flour as suggested. Thank you for helping this mom out!!!

  147. These look delicious!!! Do you know how many points the whipped topping is?

  148. Absolutely amazing! I made them just as written, even though I was skeptical of plain yogurt. I’m not a big yogurt fan at the best of time, but in waffles?? Well, I thought I’d give it a try in the name of healthy eating. Then came the first bite …. WOW! What yogurt? I couldn’t taste it at all! I cooked them in a belgian waffle maker and at a half cup a shot, it made 8 waffles! More for me. Yay!

  149. Made these last night for breakfast for the next mornings (along with some homemade blueberry sauce). I got 8 waffles out of it instead of 6. The batter was a bit too thick for my vitamix (could be because I used another brand/type of yogurt), so had to mix partially by hand. But the result was very good!

  150. When you say the serving size is one waffle, does that mean the whole 1/2 cup of batter, which could be four waffles, or is that 1/4 of the whole waffle once made? I’m confused.

  151. I was searching skinnytaste waffle recipes just last week! Thansk for reading the tide Gina. You are so brilliant at giving us what we are looking for (reading the audience and following through)
    I love you ๐Ÿ˜˜

  152. Do you think that you could use just egg whites?

  153. Thank you so much what a great idea for breakfast

  154. Can you use a food processor instead of a blender?

  155. SKINNYTASTE WAFFLES…my life is complete! I have Mickey waffle iron that needs to used. Thank you!

  156. So excited to try this! Do you think a sugar substitute work well in the topping?

  157. Have you tried with blended oats as the flour?

    • No, I have not but it’s a great idea!

    • This is very similar to waffles that I make all the time. It uses gluten free oats.

1 medium ripe banana, 2 large eggs, 2 cups gluten free oats, 1/4 cup milk (or any milk substitute), 1 tbsp baking powder, 1/2 cup plain Greek Yogurt, cinnamon, vanilla and salt. I put it all in a blender and then pour on my waffle iron. They’re perfect everytime, and freeze well. My kids love them. You know they’re done cooking when the steam is gone. Hope that helps any dairy or gluten free people.

  158. Can you use a Belgian waffle maker?

  159. I usually crave oats in my pancakes and waffles. Do you think you could add quick oats or old fashioned oats and soak in a little extra milk. Going to order a waffle maker this week. This is great timing as my favorite waffles have been out of stock for a while.

  160. Thanks, Gina. Always looking for high protein breakfast recipes and pretty bored with eggs.

  161. Looks delicious and. CANT wait to try these! Thank you Gina ๐Ÿ˜Š

  162. Wondering about separating the eggs: blending the yolks with milk, beating the whites until frothy and then folding the whites into the batter to make them fluffier. Do you think that would work with this recipe?

  163. Can you use this batter to make pancakes?

  164. I know you didn’t use one, but could this be made with a Belgian waffle maker? If so, any suggestions (less batter maybe?)? Thanks!

  165. Would this work with Greek yogurt?

  166. Can regular milk be substituted for almond milk?

  167. Can you use a Belgian waffle maker with this recipe? Looks like a great way to use up yogurt too!

  168. I don’t own a waffle maker. Any reason I shouldn’t use this for pancakes? Also is the calorie count for the waffle without all those yummy toppings? ๐Ÿ˜Š

  169. Can you make Yogurt waffles with Fat free milk?

  170. I wouldn’t call this recipe “protein packed”. It’s only 7.5 g of protein for 1 waffle. That’s
My tried and true KAF Belgian waffle recipe has 14 g of protein per waffle.
Your recipe is points friendly and lower in calories and sugar however.

    • If youโ€™re referring to the KAF recipe that is also double the calories, seven times the sugar and has 21 g of fat per waffle (before toppings), ย I definitely wouldnโ€™t call that skinny. ย This recipe however is high protein while keeping the calories, fat & sugar low. ย Best of all, they taste great. ย That balance is what keeps me coming back to this site for recipes again & again. ย Thank you Gina!

  171. They sound delicious! You may have just convinced me to get a waffle iron!

Question on the introduction, though. “Combining but almond milk with yogurt ” What was that intended to say?

  172. This looks awesome! What if you cant use nut milk?

  173. Is there an alternative to the almond milk to accommodate a nut allergy?

  174. We have a nut allergy, can we use a different milk for this?

  175. Can fat free or 1% milk be used instead of the almond milk?

  176. Can I use regular fat free milk?

  177. So excited to try these! This uses regular yogurt not Greek like the 2 ingredient dough. Correct?

  178. My kids love waffles and eat them all the time. Are used to own a waffle maker but eventually all the waffles with stick. I have since thrown it out and have been reluctant to buy another one especially since they are big and take up a lot of space. Could you please recommend a good one? One that wonโ€™t stick after a few months of use.ย

  179. I wonder if these can be made with coconut or almond flour as they would then be keto friendly!
